Fans vote Brees best quarterback of 2011

The New Orleans Saints today announced that Drew Brees is the NFL FedEx Air Player of the Year.  Fans picked Brees over Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

Brees set an NFL record for most passing yards in a season, with 5,476 yards.  That shattered Dan Marino's record 5,084 set in 1984. Brees also broke the NFL record for accuracy -- which he set in 2009 -- completing 71.2 percent of his throws in 2011.  Brees set a third record in 2011 -- the most completions in a season, at 468.  Brees tossed 46 touchdown passes this past season.

The NFL Saturday night announces who wins the Most Valuable Player award.
