Famous Black & Gold fans coast-to-coast

Actor Wendell Pierce (Treme, The Wire) and Hoda Kotb of NBC's " Today Show" fame both shared some time this morning with Kristian Garic and T-Bob Hebert on 3WL's "Double Coverage." The former WWL-TV host is bullish on a Saints win in Seattle:

"Oh, definitely. I was called into work this morning, and I was talking to all the guys on the floor like the camera man, the sound man, all those guys; and I said who are you guys rooting for this weekend? And they were all saying the Saints! So even if its not your number one choice - some of these guys have been rooting for the Giants their whole lives - they find themselves cheering for the Saints!"

Hoda continued to reminisice on a perhaps not-broadcast-appropriate moment on the field after the Saints beat the Colts in Super Bowl XLIV:

"Heres the funny thing, I was supposed to be covering it. I told them I'll cover it but I have to do it in my own special way. Im a die-hard fan, I cant play the middle. So I'm standing on the field, and Drew was there, and his wife was there with the baby with the cans on, and she keeps going, "Hoda, goose him! Goose him! Get him! Pinch him! So I did!"

Wendell Pierce, who is also helping to combat food deserts in New Orleans as an owner of the Sterling Farms grocery chain, had this to say about Saturday's matchup:

"We are in the middle of our playoff season, so we're not going to step out flat-footed like we did last time and get down 17-0. We're going to get out there, punch em in the mouth, knock 'em down early, take the 12th man out, and we're gonna run the ball on them. We're gonna show em that we do have that running game!"

Pierce went on to break down the specifics of the Saints' likely playbook and wowed Kristian and T-Bob with surprisingly insightful football analysis. He's no stranger to Saints fandom:

"I was at Tulane Stadium when Dempsey kicked the longest field goal. I'll never forget! We had started to leave and I was walking down the ramp underneath, and I remember looking up one of the ramps and seeing the ball in flight... and the next thing I knew I thought there was an earthquake because the stadium rocked!"

AUDIO: Wendell Pierce reflects on how real life is like good football:

Pierce concluded with some words of wisdom to Who Dats who might be fretting: "No matter what happens, we must remember; we are watching an elite team."
