Experts expect Tide to test Tigers for title

It looks like the national college football championship will most likely be decided in an SEC rematch.

It's not a definite yet, but WWL's pro and college football analyst, Mike Detillier, thinks there'll be no doubt after this Saturday.

"If LSU beats Georgia, that basically seals the deal that you're looking at 'Alabama/LSU, Part Two'," he says.

But, he thinks the Tigers, who have beaten three Top 10 teams, should be in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome this January, regardless of this weekend's contest in Atlanta.

"I think it's a slam dunk that it's LSU/Alabama, either way."

He says the BCS committee has to pit the top two teams together, and there's little doubt as to who those teams are.

He says the rematch will be a fun game to watch.

"It's going to be a great matchup between two terrific defenses, but I think there'll be more scoring in this game."

Mike says we won't see the same two teams we saw November 5th in Tuscaloosa. He says there's one thing he knows about college bowl games...

"The team you see in late November or early December...you never see 'em again in early January. That same team is never there! You either get better or you get worse," Detillier says.

He says the key is how the team handles the month of preparation for the big game.

And he expects LSU to be well prepared for a second meeting with Alabama.

"I think the one thing you have to give Les Miles and his troops credit for, is getting his team mentally prepared to play, extremely well, each week...despite all the distractions that went on all season long, all the controversies that could potentially have happened. They've compartmentalized this extremely well."

Does he think the Tigers can top the Tide again?

"I have no doubt that LSU can handle Alabama twice. This is almost a team of destiny, the way that they've played. Everything has gone right for them despite so many things going wrong away from the field," he says.

And, he thinks LSU will be more than happy to take on 'Bama one more time.

"It wouldn't matter to those guys if they had to play the Russian army twice," says Detillier. "You just want that opportunity to put your lips around that crystal football one more time. And it doesn't matter who you have to play to get there."

The voters in The Associated Press college football poll are in agreement as to which teams they believe are the best in the country.

LSU is the unanimous No. 1 for a third consecutive week and Alabama received all the second-place votes for a second straight week.

The SEC has won the last five BCS title games and will be guaranteed a sixth straight if this scenario plays out.

The 2012 Allstate BCS National Championship Game will be the 14th BCS National Championship Game overall and the fourth to be contested in New Orleans.

The game will be played Monday, Jan. 9, and will be televised on ESPN.

The 78th annual Allstate Sugar Bowl will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 3, also at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
