Endymion parties all night, Clarkson ''can't handle'' Mardi Gras

American Idol Kelly Clarkson performed at the Endymion Extravaganza.  She also rode on a float in Mardi Gras' biggest parade.

"My arm is totally dying," she professed between songs during her performance early this morning inside the Superdome.  "I'm not as cool as New Orleans!  I can't handle your party."

She said that throwing beads and other stuff to the more than a million people along the route was exhausting even before she put on a concert in the Dome.

"I was back there taking a rest, and I was like 'how do they do it?'"

The parade ended inside the Mercedes Benz Superdome with thousands of riders throwing tons of beads and all kinds of other throws to the crowd of more than 15,000 revelers in formal attire.

It included the new Pontchartrain Beach float, which is the longest in Mardi Gras history.  It wrapped nearly halfway around the inside of the Superdome with its nine tandem pieces which depict the sights, sounds and even smells of the now-gone amusement park.

"It came out to be everything we thought it would be and more," Endymion founder Ed Muniz said in an interview at 1:00am, as the party was still going strong.

Muniz Celebrated his 73rd birthday (Sunday) at the Extravaganza.  Clarkson led the crowd in singing to him.  She also called him "sexy."

Revelers didn't all leave the Dome until after 4:00am.

The people we talked to had a great time.

"Oh yes!  It was amazing, the atmosphere was awesome."

"Incredible... Everything, the entire experience."

Muniz said, "It's a good party, huh?  We look forward to it all year long, this is our big night of the year.
