Early voting for New Orleans' citywide elections ends tomorrow

If you want to avoid the polls on election day in the upcoming city-wide elections in New Orleans, but still cast your vote, early voting is about to wrap up.

All week people by the thousands have been voting in the New Orleans mayor's race and other citywide elections.

"Early voting has really been steadily increasing," said Orleans Registrar of VOtewrs Dr. Sandra Wilson.  "I am really pleased with the turnout for early voting for this contest."

Registrar of voters Dr. Sandra Wilson says the numbers are around seven thousand as of Friday. She urges any voters who miss the early voting period to please go vote on election day, Saturday February 1.

Locations are City Hall, the Algiers Courthouse, the voting machine warehouse on Chef Menteur, and on Saturday, those three sites plus the Regional Transit Management Center on Veterans between West End and Pontchartrain Boulevard.
