WWL's Mike Detillier has confirmed that Arkansas is making overtures to LSU Head Coach Les Miles to try to get the "Mad Hatter" to jump ship.
"There's no question (the offer) is legitimate," Detillier said. "But it's their version of of a long bomb pass."
Detillier says the Razorbacks want an answer, and quickly. However, Mike says the chances of Les moving on from LSU are low.
"His family likes it here, his kids are here...it's always hard to uproot, but you always take a look at what's on the table."
According to Detillier, even if Miles won't be moving on, the offer from Arkansas will mean Les comes out the winner. "No matter what...More money for him, more money for his assistants."
Mike also says the sheer power of LSU's recruiting pool is another magnet to keep Miles in Baton Rouge.
"Les is saying, "I know I can win a lot of games with Louisiana kids and I-10 corridor kids," and per capita, Louisiana puts more players in the NFL than any other state."
The attractiveness of LSU aside, Mike says Miles' agent is playing it very with a program that pulls in millions a year.
"This is a game of leverage. You can't pay players, so where is the money going? If you can't pay players, you pay the coaches."
