The New Orleans Saints worked on offensive and defensive sets today as if they were facing the Colts. “Anytime you see coaches holding up the cards, that means they are game planning for the other team,” said Saints Color Analyst Hokie Gajan. Hokie said the Saints were trying to simulate game like situations today at practice to give the offense and defense some of the looks that they will each face Saturday night against the Indianapolis.
The Saints kind of had a typical final 'practice before a game' on Thursday. “Nothing fancy out there today. It was basically getting prepared for the third and most important pre-season game.”
The Cajun Cannon Bobby Hebert is looking forward to the Saints preseason test at Indianapolis. “I think the Saints have had a good week of practice. Saints fans should be excited about seeing Drew Brees and Jairus Byrd this weekend.”
Bobby noted that the Saints had their front line starters in the defensive backfield. “For the first time this camp we saw CB’s Kennan Lewis and Champ Bailey along with safeties Jairus Byrd and Kenny Vaccaro. That is one impressive group out there!”
CB Corey White broke up a pass this morning and then caught an interception later in practice. Fellow DB Rafael Bush nearly pulled off a big interception but Bush was unable to get two feet in bounds and was unable to complete the play.
LB Ramon Humber was active today. “Humber broke up a couple of passes and he was in on some stops. I think the coaches like the way Humber gets to the football,” Hebert said.
Bobby also kept an eye on the ongoing battle at kicker. K Shayne Graham missed a 49 yard FG attempt while fellow Kicker Derek Dimke nailed his 49 yard attempt.
