LSU Football Coach Les Miles was all smiles Wednesday evening as I spoke with him about his incoming class. “I think we fill a lot of needs. And we were able to get some of the best players in the country in this class.”
The Tigers landed the nation’s #2 overall recruiting class for 2014. Headlined by the country’s #1 player in St. Augustine RB Leonard Fournette, the Tigers made a huge leap from what looked to be a disappointing day back on January 2.

January 2nd, several players, including two from Louisiana, committed to play for school other than LSU. The Tigers felt confident about players like Gerald Willis and Devonte Noil, but the Karr standouts went out of state to Florida and Texas A&M.
But the Tigers finished strong on Signing Day, landing the nation’s #1 Wide Receiver prospect in John Curtis star Malachi Dupre. Landing Dupre and DT Travonte Valentine really helped the Tigers late push to land the #2 ranking.
Coach Miles talked to me about how important it is to establish a healthy relationship with the parents of recruits. “You have to have a great relationship with the parents. You have to earn their trust.” Miles went on to talk about how pleased he is with this year’s signing class and he said that this class will be able to compete for national titles.
