Saints quarterback Drew Brees spoke to Bobby Hebert and myself for the weekly "QB to QB" session. Drew talked about the solid win by the Black and Gold on Monday night, while looking ahead to Sunday's match-up with the Dirty Birds in the Superdome.
Bobby asked Drew if he thought last year's 45-16 pounding of the Falcons in New Orleans last year might make for extra motivation by Atlanta.
"I don't think that's an issue at all," Drew told us. "We're far enough down the road here in this 2012 season, and look at the season they're having. They're 8-0, playing as good of football as anyone in the league right now. They're kind of the team to beat."
Drew continued, "I think there's enough riding on this game anyway. I don't think either side needs any extra motivation."

And, Brees noted that there are some solid reasons why Atlanta is undefeated.
"They play very well as a team. They're very well-coached, very disciplined. They don't give up big play, they get after the passer with the pass rush...they're doing a great job of getting turnovers this year. I believe they've got the 4th most turnovers in the NFL, and they're doing a great job of taking care (of the ball) offensively. So their giveaway-takeaway ratio is very good. And they're the least-penalized team in the league. All in all, that's championship caliber football, and that's the reason why they're 8-0. "
Finally, #9 told us that the Falcons D offers some special problems for the Saints' pass-heavy offense.
"They've got some ball hawks in that secondary, they've gotten a lot of interceptions. They've got guys with really good ball skills, really good awareness and instincts. So it's definitely something for us in the passing game that we know where these guys are, and know that they're looking to make plays, plays on the ball, and just be aware of that."
