DWI suspect arrested as daughter cries in back seat
A Galliano man is facing DWI and child endangerment charges in Terrebonne Parish after Houma Police pulled him over Tuesday.
Chief Todd Duplantis says officers were called to a gas station because 36-year-old Robert Joseph Kieff Jr. was seen stumbling around the store and falling asleep. Once there, he says his officers saw Kieff get into his truck an attempt to drive away. That's when they pulled him over.
Duplantis said as officer questioned Kieff, he appeared intoxicated and would stumble backwards and even nod off while talking with officers. The officers also observed the man's 8-year-old daughter in the truck, crying and apparently frightened.
Police say Kieff told them he was on his way home after an appearance in drug court, but further investigation found no records of Kieff being a member of the Terrebonne Parish Drug Court Program.
