Cops find 'person of interest' in child's murder

New Orleans police want to talk to a man about the killing of a little girl.

"NOPD Homicide detectives are looking for a 'person of interest' in the murder of 11-year-old Arabian Gayles," Director of Public Affairs Remi Braden said in an email.

She did not say exactly why they are seeking to talk to the man.

"Investigators would like to talk to 20-year-old Jordan Montrell.  It's believed he may have some information regarding this case."  Braden says state police located Montrell this afternoon and  he met with the homicide detective in charge of this investigation.

It stems from a shooting in the Carrollton neighborhood in September.

"Gayles was fatally shot on Sunday, September 2nd, while inside her home in the 1300-block of  General Ogden Street," Braden said. "Her 11-year-old cousin was wounded in the incident as well as a local man."
