Cops say 2 Louisiana men admit to sexually abusing their dog

State Police investigators have booked two men from Evangeline Parish on charges of sexually attacking their dog, a Siberian Husky named "Nyla."

Humane Society of Louisiana Director Jeff Dorson told WWL First News that a detailed tip to the State Police Sex Crimes Unit allowed troopers to make the bust within a couple of hours.

"When they got to the residence...the men admitted to sexually abusing their dog," Dorson said. "They didn't think it was that bad."

Behind bars are Joshua Granger (above, left) and Nathan Wells (above, right.)

Investigators say the suspects not only confessed to having sex with the dog, but had videotaped the acts.

Dorson said the dog Nyla is in the care of the Humane Society and is doing well.

The animal did not suffer any internal injuries, and once they feel she's comfortable with being around people, especially men, they hope to put her up for adoption in a couple of weeks.

As shocking as it sounds, Dorson says there's a whole subculture of people who trade videos and even have websites dedicated to having sex with animals.

''Sure enough you will find almost every variety of animal engaged in sexual activity,'' Dorson said.

According to Dorson, arrests are rare, but the abuse is not.

"Usually these poor creatures are shuffled from one deviant to another, just outside the reach of us and law enforcement.''

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office issued the following news release about the arrests:

On February 3, 2013, Louisiana State Police along with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff office conducted an investigation of Joshua Granger of 1628 Ash St. in Pine Prairie and Nathan Wells of the same address. During questioning, both Wells and Granger openly admitted to having sexual contact with a female dog every time the dog would come into heat. The dog was picked up by the humane society and both subjects were arrested on Crimes Against Nature, both subject were booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail with a bond of $7,500.00, both subjects are currently out of jail on the bond.
