Cops have arrested a man for the weekend shooting along the Tammany Trace in Mandeville. They say it was a drug deal that led to the shooting.
"An arrest has been made in Sunday's shooting on the Tammany Trace," Lt. Gerald Sticker said in a news release. "Shortly before midnight last night 21 year old Jesse Stowe of 40430 East I-55 Service Road in Ponchatoula was arrested."
He says they have charged Stowe with armed robbery and attempted 1st degree murder.
"Detectives have recovered several pieces of evidence such as the victim's vehicle and a handgun which is suspected to be the same weapon used in this crime," Sticker announced. "Stowe confessed to the crime, acknowledging that the incident stemmed from a narcotics transaction gone awry."
Leonard J. Breaux Jr. remains in the hospital with a bullet wound to the head. He is a 24-year-old man from Covington.
"As of this morning the victim is still listed in critical condition," Sticker said.
