Cops interviewing 'person of interest' in triple murder
The man police wanted to talk to about the triple murder in Gentilly has gone to the police station to talk to the cops.
"Peterson came in to headquarters and is speaking to detectives now," Officer Hilal Williams said in a news release.
Shawn Peterson (above) is the father of one of the victims.
Detectives wanted to talk to him after finding his son and his son's mother among the three victims.
The family was gunned down at a home in the 4400 block of Jean Marie Place in Gentilly, police say.
Investigators say they do not consider 41-year-old Peterson a suspect at this time, but believe he has information about the shooting death of the 39-year-old NOPD dispatcher, her 20-year-old daughter and 18-year-old son. The Advocate reports Peterson has an extensive violent criminal history going back to his teen years.
Police received a call of several people shot around 11:00 last night, and a department spokesman says when officers arrived in the 4400 block of Jean Marie Place, they found the bodies inside a garage.
All appeared to have been shot to death.
The 39-year-old woman had been a New Orleans Police dispatcher since 2009.
Police are asking anyone with information to call Crimestoppers at 822-1111, or toll-free at (877) 903-STOP (7867). Tips can also be sent via text message, to C-R-I-M-E-S (274637), with the message TELLCS followed by the crime information.
