Dave Cohen Reporting
A Terrebonne Parish woman called cops to tell them she killed her ex-husband. It happened late last night.
"At approximately 11:05 p.m., TPSO received a call from a female who reported that she shot her ex-husband inside her residence located at 260 Gabreten Lane in Schriever," Captain Dawn Foret said in a news release. "Deputies responded to the scene and located the lifeless body of Chade Welch."
She says the 33-year-old man from Gray, Louisiana had been shot several time in the chest.
"A female standing in the driveway reported that she was the subject who called for assistance. She was identified as Crystal Welch, 30. Chade was pronounced dead at the scene. The female was detained during the investigation," Foret said.
Foret says it started as an argument that turned violent.
"According to the female, she and her two children were in the residence during the incident. Chade arrived at the residence, a verbal and physical argument occurred and Crystal shot Chade twice in the chest with a handgun," The captain said.
The ex-wife was taken to jail.
"Crystal was subsequently arrested for one count of manslaughter and booked at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex," according to Foret.
Investigators say they still have work to do on this case.
"An autopsy is scheduled to be performed Friday at the Jefferson Parish Forensic Center," Foret said. "This investigation is ongoing."
