LSU students received an alert last night at around 7:30 p.m. about an attempted abduction. LSU Police Department Captain Cory Lalonde says a female student came to the on campus police department to report the incident.
"The victim advised that as she was walking to her vehicle she saw a black male subject exit a van that was parked in the parking lot, at which time he approached her and grabbed her arm. At that time the victim was able to pull away from the suspect and run from the area," Lalonde says.
It happened outside of Patrick Taylor Hall, on Nicholson Extension.
Lalonde said the victim described the alleged attacker as a black male wearing black baggy pants and a collared shirt. He says the suspect was last seen getting in an older model black box van with tinted windows heading toward Nicholson Drive.
"The victim was able to describe the suspect as a black male, dark complexion, no facial hair with parts cut into both eyebrows and a receding hairline," Lalonde says.
Lalonde says this is the first time anything like this has happened on campus. He says this is an ongoing investigation and officers are going over as much information as possible.
"We constantly urge everyone to always be aware of their surroundings, be vigilant, and to report any kind of suspicious activities, or person, or vehicles to us as soon as possible," Lalonde says.
