Cop charged with accepting sex to protect 'pill-mill'

A New Orleans Police officer who was part of a Drug Enforcement Agency task force faces federal charges of helping cover-up an alleged pill-mill, in exchange for sex and cash. The charges also includes the owners of a pain management clinic operating in Metairie and Slidell.

According to the indictment, Dr. Joseph Mogan III and Tiffany Miller, co-owners of Omni Pain Management in Metairie and Omni Pain Management Plus in Slidell, would prescribe narcotic painkillers without legitimate reason to the clinics' so-called patients.

The feds say that Donald Nides, formerly with the NOPD and a DEA task force, is charged with conspiracy and obstruction of justice.  Prosecutors say Miller offered Nides sex and cash in exchange for Nides' expert information on how to keep their Omni Pain Management clinic in Metairie Omni Pain Management Plus clinic in Slidell from sending up any "red flags" that might draw the attention of law enforcement.

The indictment also alleges that Nides leaked confidential information about DEA investigations to Mogan and Miller ,and lied to federal investigators about their pain clinics.
