Christmas message from New Orleans' Archbishop

New Orleans Archbishop Gregory Aymond has asked WWL First News to convey his message of hope for a very blessed, holy and merry Christmas to all.

Archbishop Aymond says his message is the message of Jesus Christ, who "has come as our Messiah and Savior to bring light into the darkness, to bring hope into times of despair."

The Archbishop says "that's what the Lord Jesus' birth did for the Jewish people of the time of the Old Testament, and that's what He does for us today."

"Certainly, in our lives, we would see reasons to be without hope or to say we're living in darkness," says Aymond.

"But a Messiah has been born and He is the Prince of Peace. And He has promised us that, if we open our hearts and if we open our world to let Him come into us and into our world, that He can bring us hope and light and a new time."

"So I think it's time of hope," Aymond says. "It's a time of peace and we should never, ever, despair or live in darkness...because the Messiah wants to live in us and among us."

Archbishop Aymond also commented on the recent, tragic elementary school shootings in Connecticut.
