Chief: murder of father and son likely gang-related

New Orleans Police announced Thursday afternoon that they believe a gang feud led to a shooting that killed a 7-month-old boy and his 25-year-old father.

The shooting happened around 9:00 p.m. Wednesday on General de Gaulle Drive in Algiers. Police say the victims were passengers in the rear seat of a Honda sedan when at least two people in a dark-colored SUV with a silver bumper began shooting.
New Orleans Police Superintendent Ronal Serpas says they believe the shooting was the result of a feud between two gangs known as the Fischer Fools and the Hot Block.

"We believe that this shooting may be the result of a conflict between these two groups," Serpas said.
The chief said their officers will do everything they can within the law to bring in members of the two gangs and question them about the crime.
Authorities also announced an increase in the Crimestoppers reward for good information that leads to an indictment.
"There's a lot of money on the table: $15,000 cash," said Darlene Cusanza of Crimestoppers.  "There's also a grieving family and a grieving community out there that really wants to find justice for this little baby and for his father."

Cusanza urged anyone with information on the murders to call Crimestoppers at 822-1111. You do not have to leave your name or testify to be eligible for a cash reward.
