Before leaving Green Bay, I spoke to Drew Brees for our one-on-one "Monday Morning Quarterback" interview. Drew said that the loss to Green Bay does sting a little more than the other three, given how well they played at times.
"Yeah, I mean, we felt really good about coming in here and getting a win," Brees said. "And I'd say for the most part, our performance showed that. It was certainly a winning effort, we thought it was a winning performance. Unfortunately, they're a great team, too. They made a lot of plays, we made a lot of plays...we just couldn't get it at the end."
A couple of weeks ago, Drew told me that he was confident that the Black and Gold would hang together in the face of adversity. Does he think the team can do that with a 0-4 start?
"Yes. Absolutely. We have the right type of guys. Of course there's a sense of urgency, but we just want to continue to focus on the details, the fundamentals, and get a little better each week. We know that will result in wins if we can continue to do that."

Brees told me that he still feels like they have a great team.
"I do believe that. We've put ourselves in quite a hole here, and we've got a mountain to climb, but we've got the guys to do it."
My thoughts following the game: At the end of the day, the element of Sean Payton not being there was more apparent in this game than others. Payton is the master of making the right call, putting his foot on an opponent and not letting them up. That wasn't the case against the Packers.
From my vantage point on the sideline, YES, the team has looked better and better each week. But fans don't want to hear that. These are improvements that should have been made during training camp. Fans would much rather see an ugly win than steady improvement through four losses. The bottom line is: This team doesn't know how to finish.
