Bobby Hebert: Ingram is just not getting it done!

All said and done, if we get to 10 or 11 wins, these are the types of games you have to win to get to double digits and be a playoff team.  It doesn’t matter how you win, you have to have these ugly types of wins.  I can tell you one thing: Tampa Bay’s defense is here to stay.  I’ll be surprised if teams score more than the low 20’s against that defense.  They’re 0-2 now, but they’ll knock a snot-bubble in you, whether legal or illegal.  They got some bad SOB’s on that team.

You might have thought Drew Brees was jittery in the pocket, but there was a reason:  Tampa Bay was coming, and they were bringing it, and our offensive line isn’t as good as the Super Bowl year.  Now, we’ve got to be able to run the ball better, but the bottom line is that we made enough plays when we had to, and we won the game.

What’s frustrating so far:  Our red-zone offense against the Falcons and Tampa Bay were not efficient.  What’s the problem?  I don’t know.  Last year, we were #2 in the league, we would always get the touchdowns, but that’s not the case now.

Defense:  What more can you ask of them?  Now, at times, it was feast or famine.  But they really took it to RB Doug Martin.  I wish Drew Brees had a Doug Martin, along with Pierre.  He’s been among the best in the NFL, and ended up with 144 yards…so that didn’t surprise me at all.  I think at times we did what we had to, but he also had some nice long runs.

Running game:  When you look at what we did in net yards rushing, totally unacceptable.  Now, you can say, we’ve got to run the ball more, but with the ebb and flow of the game, I don’t think Coach Payton was trying to get away from the run…but you can almost guarantee when Mark Ingram is running the ball, it’s going to be somewhere in the 2-yard (average) area.  He’s just not going to get it…He had the offensive line giving the block, and you’ve got to win those one-on-one battles.

The Saints are a three point favorite over the Falcons next Sunday in Atlanta. Do you think the line is too low, too high or just right?
