Bobby: Backup QBs will take majority of snaps in Friday's Saints game

Today the Saints practiced in the afternoon, so I sent one of our resident pros on assignment while the other one co-hosted "Sports Talk" with me. While Hokie and I broadcasted from Slammin Sammy Snead’s Club House, Bobby Hebert watched practice and took notes. Here is what the Cajun Cannon saw.
“I thought it was a real good practice! Sometimes after a scrimmage and a day off, you tend to see a less crisp practice, but today I thought the Saints put in some good work.” Bobby said that he thinks that back-up QB’s Luke McCown and Ryan Griffin have taken advantage of the extra snaps they’ve been getting. QB Drew Brees did not practice today and Bobby thinks that the back-ups will get the majority of the snaps this Friday night when the Saints play at St. Louis against the Rams.
Griffin made some nice plays at practice today. “I think Ryan has been accurate more times than not. He made a real nice throw today to WR Joe Morgan. He (Griffin) looks poised out there.” Morgan got by CB Patrick Robinson, and Griffin made a great throw. Griffin also hit TE Ben Watson for a 22 yard TD during Red Zone team drills.
In special teams action, kicker Derek Dimke finally missed a field goal. After being perfect this training camp, Dimke missed a 39 yard field goal. “I’ve only seen three misses during the entire camp. That was the first kick that Dimke missed.” By comparison, Shayne Graham made field goals from 39, 44, 51 and 54 yards at practice today. “He (Graham) was in a zone. That was impressive kicking by the veteran kicker today,” Hebert said.
Other highlights from today’s practice included a 12 yard run by RB Mark Ingram and CB Corey White picking off QB Ryan Griffin. White was playing safety at the time he intercepted Griffin’s pass. LB Rufus Johnson picked up a sack today on Griffin during team drills.
The Saints hit the field again tomorrow with a morning practice.
