Big Chief's NFL Top 10 Week #5

As we move closer to the half-way point of the season, we are starting to see the teams that will be contenders in each conference.  This week there are some very good games on the schedule.  Can Seattle remain undefeated playing at Indianapolis?  Will the Saints do the same as they go to the Windy City to face the Bears?  And, is Denver really only just three points better than the Cowboys?  That’s what the bookies are saying.  Let me put five down on the Broncos, gotta go make a call!  Here’s my top 10 going into week #5 of the 2013 NFL Season.

1.      Seattle Seahawks (4-0) – Seattle struggled on offense, passing for less than 100 yards.  So what?  The Seabirds let their bright young QB do his thing as Russell Wilson killed the Texans with big runs late in the game.  And did I mention the Seattle D got a game-tying pick six in the last few minutes of regulation?  Seattle has one hell of a defense.  And this team looks like they are built to last for the long haul.  With that said a win this week would be even more impressive against a very sound Colts Team in Indy!  Last week beat Houston 23-20 OT / this week @ Indianapolis.

2.       Denver Broncos (4-0) – The Horses look like a team that can win all of their regular season games.  But with Peyton Manning it’s all about the post season.  Denver has tremendous balance on offense.  Last week the boys from Mile High had 37 pass attempts along with 33 rushes for a whopping 472 yards.  And then to top things off, the Broncos got a little “Holliday” magic from Trindon.  This team is loaded.  And they don’t even have their best defensive player yet!  Last week beat Philadelphia 52-20 / this week @ Dallas.

3.       New Orleans Saints (4-0) – The Saints can play defense and they can pass the football.  But can the Black and Gold be a legit threat without any type of rushing attack?  We will find out the next two weeks with road trips to the Windy City and Clam Chowder land!  Last week beat Miami 38-17/ this week @ Chicago.

4.       New England Patriots (4-0) – The Patriots young wide receivers are starting to come around under the veteran leadership of Tom.  NE is 4-0 for the first time since 2007.  And the Pats have a very good young RB duo in Steven Ridley and LeGarrette Blount.  Is there a better CB in the game right now than the Patriots’ Aquib Talib?  I don’t think so.  Last week beat Atlanta / this week @ Cincinnati.

5.       Kansas City Chiefs (4-0) –KC is for real.  And when teams start 4-0 they go to the playoffs.  KC is playing all phases of the game well right now.  This trip to Music City to take on the Titans might be the last hurdle for the Chiefs until a week nine match-up with Denver.    Last week beat NY Giants 31-7 / this week @ Tennessee.

6.       Indianapolis Colts (3-1) – After falling behind 3-0, the Colts went on a 37-0 run to crush the Jacksonville Jaguars.  Now a big time match-up takes place as the undefeated Seahawks come to Lucas Oil for an early season showdown.  Last week beat Jacksonville / this week @ Indianapolis.

7.       Detroit Lions (3-1) – Detroit is once again putting up big numbers on offense.  The Lions from Motown hammered the Bears, piling up 40 points to take the lead in the NFC North Division.  Now the Lions can get a strong grip on the North with a win over Green Bay.  Last week beat Chicago 40-32 / this week @ Green Bay.

8.       Tennessee Titans (3-1) – Well I think the Titans should be 4-0.  And they would be if not for an overtime loss to Houston in week two of the season.  Don’t look now, but if the Titans win this week over KC, the rest of the nation will rank them in their top ten too!  Last week beat NY Jets 38-13/ this week vs. Kansas City.

9.       Chicago Bears (3-1) – Ok, now we will find out what kind of team the Bears really are.  The Saints come to town in a clash of NFC powers.  Or at least it seems that way right now!  Last week Detroit 40-32 / this week vs. New Orleans.

10.   Miami Dolphins (3-1) – Miami dropped their first game of the season in a loss to the Saints.  Now the struggling Ravens come to South Florida before the Dolphins bye week.  If I told Dolphins fans back in August their team would be 3-2 after five games they’d probably be happy.  But they’d much rather 4-1.  We shall see!  Last week lost to New Orleans 38-17/ this week vs. Baltimore.
