Another doggone doggie parade!

We're not quite through with Carnival just yet.

The Mystic Krewe of Mardi Paws celebrates 20 years of parading Sunday, when they roll to the 2014 theme, 'Live from the Red CarPET!'

"So, the krewe will be channeling their favorite award show hits and misses, worst red carpet moments or their favorite award show winners," says Mardi Paws Captain Denise Gutnisky.

She says The Oscars, The Emmys, The Grammys, The ESPY'S...will all be fair game.

The parade paws its way along the Mandeville lakefront Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Pets can be registered to take part the day of the event, starting at noon. All animals must be in costume (or extremely decorated with beads, feathers, etc.) to participate.
Prizes will be awarded for best costumes.

"Our top ten costume contest winners receive a one-of-a-kind, signature work of art which is a golden 'Poop Trophy' certain to be the envy of all your neighbors," says Gutnisky.

Covington's own Ian Somerhalder, star of the ongoing hit TV series, The Vampire Diaries, will reign as Celebrity Monarch of the Mardi Gras Super Krewe for Canines.

Somerhalder's fresh off his ride last weekend in Endymion. He was also seen recently on the red carpet as a People's Choice winner.

The krewe's 'Royal Hairs' that make up the Canine Court will be throwing special faux dog droppings, and the krewe is famous for throwing stuffed animals...usually cats.

Parade goers are encouraged to bring throws and enjoy the day.

Mardi Paws helps support three of the Northshore's non-profits aimed at helping kids and K-9's alike.
