Officials Tuesday had to close the various sites around the New Orleans area where thousands of people were waiting hours in long lines to apply for disaster food stamps.
The locations where all overwhelmed in Jefferson, Plaquemines, St. Tammany and New Orleans.
Officials say they will re-open at 8:00am Wednesday and stay open as long as they can handle the crowds. They will do that each day through the weekend.
Additional sites open in other parishes Wednesday and Thursday as well. Here is the list for Southeast Louisiana designated sites as of 9/9/08:
