A top five for Louisiana

Louisiana continues to impress some of the nations top business publications!  A magazine called "Area Development" ranks the Bayou State in the top  5  in  numerous  categories,  including  overall  business environment, most cooperative state government.

Greater New Orleans Inc. President Michael Hecht says it's more validation of the work being done to make Louisiana a business friendly state.

''It really flies in the face of our historical reputation,'' said Hecht.

He says it's a third-party validation of the work being done here to make Louisiana a business friendly state.

''We have to prove out to them before a company decides to locate in Baton Rouge or New Orleans, they have to believe the rankings are true,'' he said.

Louisiana was number 2 for incentive programs in the USA and the state also ranked high in the category of the overall cost of doing business and having most cooperative state government.

Hecht says he has consultants telling him that Louisiana is a better place to do business than Texas, and that's something you just never heard in the past.

In a recent issue of Area Development, Louisiana scored an impressive range of rankings in the Top 5 in the USA:

#2 in the USA for Incentive Programs
#2 in the USA for "Renewed Consideration Post-Recession"
#3 in the USA for Overall Business Environment
#3 in the USA for Favorable Regulatory Environment
#4 in the USA for Speed of Permitting
#4 in the USA for Most Cooperative State Government
#4 in the USA for Overall Cost of Doing Business
