Today is the first community wide day of giving in the Greater New Orleans Area.
It's GiveNolaDay, the community's first one day, online giving event to inspire people to give to their favorite nonprofit organizations who make our region stronger.
Martha Landrum, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at the Greater New Orleans Foundation says its an online effort with over 300 nonprofit organizations.
"We encourage you to give today a gift as little as 10 dollars to one of the 300 nonprofits," said Landrum.
Landrum says when you visit the link you'll see how many different nonprofits there are to choose from and help out.
"Nonprofits that shelter the homeless, that take care of the sick, that feed the hungry, we have nonprofits that take care of the animals. There's so many nonprofits in the Greater New Orleans foundation. They do tremendous work," said Landrum.
Landrum also mentioned, "It's going on all over the country. There are 75 communities across the United States that are having giving days on Tuesday, May 6th; but this is the first year in New Orleans."
Landrum says the generosity in New Orleans has been overwhelming.
