LSU is a 41-point favorite to beat Western Kentucky and there's not nearly the hype heading into this game, compared to last week's colossal match-up with Alabama. But that doesn't mean history won't be made on Saturday night.
LSU's Les Miles can win his 100th game in the 11th year of his coaching career. This is also the first meeting between these two schools on the football field.
But getting win number ten on the season is the most important milestone for the Tigers. That's one more win closer to an appearance in the BCS National Championship game.
Here are the 5 things to watch during a rare Saturday night game in Tiger Stadium.
1. Who is the starting QB?
Does it really matter who starts? Both Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee will see snaps over the course of the rest of the season. But Miles has given no indication who will take the first snap. He's also not concerned about Lee's psyche after throwing two interceptions against Alabama. But LSU fans would feel better, if Lee had an error free game against the Hilltoppers.
2. Bobby Rainey
Western Kentucky's first season as an FBS school was in 2009. The Hilltoppers failed to win a game that season. They won just two games in 2010. But this year they've won five in a row and WKU has a chance to win the Sun Belt. Running back Bobby Rainey is the reason why the Hilltoppers are suddenly competitive in the Sun Belt. He's 5-foot-8, 205 pounds and has excellent speed. Rainey has rushed for 1,169 yards and has also caught 30 passes for 298 yards.
3. Intensity
There's no way LSU will be able to match the intensity and focus they showed last week in the win over Alabama. But playing at night in Tiger Stadium for only the second time this season should give them some extra juice. The Tigers will not be as sharp, which is why I don't see LSU covering the 41-point spread.
4. LSU's Ground Game
The Tigers struggled to run the football in between the tackles against Alabama. Spencer Ware was held to 29 yards on 16 carries. Ware would like to get back on track against the Hilltoppers. The sophomore's average rush per carry has fallen below four yards. Western Kentucky has been stingy against the run against Sun Belt teams. But they haven't tried to tackle anybody like Ware this year.
5. 9 PM
A six o' clock kickoff means this game should finish around nine o' clock. I'm hoping it will be a quick postgame and then I can catch the final few minutes of the Oregon-Stanford game. The Cardinal is one of four teams that could play LSU, if the Tigers reach the BCS National Championship game. Stanford and Oregon should be a shootout and the last one who has the football will win. For those who didn't like the LSU-Bama game, they should love this PAC-12 North showdown.
By the way, I like LSU to win 38-7.
