2 movies shot in New Orleans open as the city remains a favorite for film makers

Hollywood South continues to be a hot spot for TV and movie production.

At least seven projects are currently being filmed in the Crescent City.

Four major movies shot in New Orleans are about to be released.

"There's three films on the immediate horizon," says Chris Stelly, with the Louisiana Office of Entertainment Industry Development. "One, '12 Years A Slave', especially, is already garnering a lot of Oscar buzz and should get a ton of accolades"

That film hits theaters this weekend. 'Dallas Buyers Club' comes out in December, and Stelly says that could mean an Oscar for Matthew McConaughey. And, of course, there's ''The Butler' which was #1 at the box office for a couple of weeks.

Another movie shot in New Orleans, 'Escape Plan', with Stallone and Schwarzenegger is hitting the big screens this weekend. Stelly says it's an amazing looking action flick that should be fun to watch.

And, while that film is just about to make its debut, Schwarzenegger is already back in town shooting another movie.

"He's wrapping up 'Maggie' along with Abigail Breslin," says Stelly. "Arnold's been here a couple of times, and Sylvester Stallone seems to making a home here in New Orleans and Louisiana."

The Warner Bros. feature film 'Focus' starring Will Smith is shooting in New Orleans through November 15th.

End Game Entertainment's feature 'Selfless' starring Ryan Reynolds is filming through November.

And, Sony's feature '22 Jump Street' starring Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill and Ice Cube will shoot through December 11th.

As for the television productions...the CBS Studios pilot and series 'Ravenswood' starring Victoria Justice is filming through November 20th in New Orleans.

CBS Studios TV series 'Star Crossed' will shoot through December 12th.

And, the Fox series 'American Horror Story: Coven' starring Jessica Lange and Zachary Quinto is filming 'til January of 2014.
