10-year-old shot during I-10 road rage incident in Kenner

Kenner Police have arrested a New Orleans man who was on parole after a road rage incident in which police say he fired a gun into a pickup truck and hit a 10-year-old boy who was sitting in the back seat.

26-year-old David Sean Jackson has been charged with attempted second-degree murder, criminal damage to property, possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies, several traffic violations, illegal carrying of weapons and intent to distribute cocaine.

Police say the incident started around 2 p.m. Saturday near the I-10/610 split when a 50-year-old male driver of a red pickup passed Jackson's Acura and then went in the same lane as the Acura.

According to police, Jackson's Acura and the pickup truck then alternately passed each other up as they headed on I-10 into Kenner at which point Jackson pulled alongside the pickup and fired a few times into the truck, striking the 10-year-old boy in the face.

The truck then rammed Jackson's Acura and the chase continued on Williams Blvd. and the pickup rammed the Acura a second time. Kenner Police stopped both vehicles at Williams and Driftwood.

Jackson's 25-year-old girlfriend and his 6-year-old and 5-month-old sons were in the car with him.

The injured 10-year-old boy was undergoing surgery at University Hospital for fragments that entered his sinus cavity.

Police said Jackson was on parole until August 2016 for drug distribution and firearm possession.
